CHARITY shops that support Wigan and Leigh Hospice are desperate for furniture donations.
The hospice needs to raise £7,000 every day from fundraising and donations in order to maintain the level of care and support it provides.
The total running costs are over £4 million pounds annually and last year, the hospice shops raised almost £1 million.
Hospice retail manager Janet Fletcher said: “We have had a sudden drop in furniture donations and are struggling to keep our shops stocked with good quality, usable furniture to sell.
“I ask that if anyone is redecorating and find that their old furniture doesn’t match the new décor, would they please contact us and we’ll call and collect it free of charge. However we can only accept furniture with fire labels attached where appropriate.
“Donations of suites, dining sets, wall units, beds and wardrobes are always welcome but even smaller items such as coffee tables, electrical items and household bric-a-brac will help to raise valuable funds for the hospice.”
Anyone wishing to donate items should call 01942 525566 Monday to Friday when a convenient time will be arranged for collection.
