ITALIAN delights were on the menu at Atherton Community School thanks to a volunteer teacher from Italy.
Leonardo Frigerio, aged 22, is from just outside Milan and works at the school supporting classes.
He also runs an Italian club as part of the school’s compulsory extra-curricular activities.
Pupils have been learning basic Italian and about major cities in Italy.
Signor Frigerio said: “This school is very different from an Italian school.
“The pupils work longer hours but the biggest surprise for me was how much the school feels like a family and cares for the children.”
The pupils were treated to a cookery lesson when they learned to make, and ate, spaghetti alla carbonara.
Caitlin Horrobin, aged 11, said: “I really like the Italian club. I can speak some of the language and I would really like to visit Venice now.”
