STUDENTS at Fred Longworth High School were put through their paces when Manchester United duo Brian “Choccy” McClair and Les Parry paid them a visit.
Reds’ Academy boss McClair and fitness specialist Parry were on a fact-finding visit to learn about the use of technology in PE.
They joined Year 11 students in a fitness session and badminton coaching session and gathered information and ideas which may well figure in United’s youth coaching programme.
McClair said: “We have picked up some really interesting ideas. The technology can be used in individual or group coaching sessions and the benefits are clear to see in the way the students improve in such a short space of time. The school have given us such a warm welcome - I’m impressed.”
Tyldesley school head Jan Garretts, an avid Reds fan, said: “It was very flattering for our PE Faculty to be asked to provide a model of good coaching for Manchester United. It was exciting to meet a United legend and I am delighted to have two newly signed match programmes as a souvenir!”
