LEIGH Centurions dynamic half-back Ryan Brierley is going back to school.
The fans’ favourite has joined Leigh Community Trust, based at the Leigh Sports Village, as a community coach and his job is to lead varied programmes at primary schools in the Leigh area.
One of those tasks is delivering heart health messages to five to seven-year-olds in a programme backed by Heart Research UK Healthy Hearts funding.
As part of the Rugby League World Cup cultural programme, he will be delivering educational sessions to Year 5 and 6 primary pupils, promoting the Tongan and Cook Islands teams who clash at the LSV stadium on Tuesday, November 5.
He is also aiming to achieve coaching qualifications and undertake an RSPH Level 2 health improvement award.
Trust general manager Hannah Forbes said: “He’s a fantastic role model to the young community and is a great asset to the trust. We are looking forward to continuing to work with the club and the coaching staff.”
