A PRESENTATION event has celebrated the best of the borough’s allotments.
Chris Bibby from Lowton, received the James Prescott Trophy, the first person from Fir Tree Allotments to win the award.
Michael Fishwick, of leisure and culture provider WLCT which manages allotments, said: “Chris has transformed his plot since he took it on in 2010 and we have seen it steadily progress each season.
“He comes out here every day to tend to it – growing everything from apples and strawberries to leeks and even chillies. It’s an impressive plot with great variety and quality of crops, and the effort Chris has put in makes him a deserving winner of the trophy.”
Chris said: “I couldn’t believe it when I received the letter to say I had won - I’m really pleased to receive the trophy.”
