Bacup man seriously injured by taxi outside pub

A BACUP man is in a serious condition in Royal Preston Hospital after being hit by a taxi on Saturday at 11.55pm.

The 30-year-old was outside the Irwell Inn in Burnley Road, Bacup, when he was struck by the Volkswagen Passat. He suffered multiple injuries including a serious injury to his head.

The driver, a 41-year-old man from Keighley, has been arrested and was yesterday in custody. Sgt Steve Wignall said: “If anyone witnessed what happened I would ask them to contact us on 101.”
