A LEIGH-based company has won an employer of the year award.

Adactus Housing Group was awarded the accolade by Wigan Supported Employment team which helps people with disabilities find work placements to suit their skills and abilities.

Jayne Allison, employment and skills manager at the charitable housing company, collected the Edward Shovelton award on behalf of Adactus.

She said: “Being recognised as a diverse, local employer which supports people with disabilities into employment is a great accolade.

“We are extremely proud of the community work that we do and especially proud of our staff and managers who support people from Supported Employment in fulfilling their job roles with us. As a partner organisation we hope to continue and expand on the great work that we do.”

Adactus has been working with Wigan Supported Employment since 2006 and has more recently offered five placements with two employees becoming paid employees of the Association.
