FATHER Christmas took time out of his busy schedule to cut the ribbon for a charity furniture shop.

The International Aid Shop on Golborne Road in Lowton opened in March but enlisted Santa to help officially open the store which sells furniture and donates the proceeds to impoverished countries.

Dawn Perrin, the shop manager, is trying to raise the profile of the shop in a bid to attract more customers.

She said: “Quite a few people came along to enjoy some nibbles while the children met Santa.

“We want to spread the word that we are here and get more people into the shop.”

Apart from Dawn and a driver, the shop relies on volunteers for its everyday running so as much money as possibly can be donated to third world and war-torn countries.
