A HEART felt gift has been left behind by the Tongan Rugby League team.
The team was based in Leigh during the World Cup and donated the defibrillator that was given to them for the tournament to Wigan & Leigh College.
New Zealand’s Rugby League World Cup team presented the life-saving piece of kit, provided by HeartSine Technologies and BOC Healthcare to all the teams in the tournament, on Tonga’s behalf.
Andrew Wilcock, Wigan & Leigh College’s Health, Safety & Sustainability Advisor, said: “A piece of equipment like this can be the difference between life and death, and it is good to be able to offer all our staff and students the reassurance it brings.”
The machine will now be housed at the college’s Sixth Form Centre in Leigh for use in emergency situations.
