SOAP star and singer Kym Marsh has been lending a hand at a food bank.

The Coronation Street star and Hearsay member has paid several visits to the Atherton and Leigh Foodbank to help sort and distribute food and essential supplies to people in crisis.

Kym also donated a Newton and Ridley Beer Tray signed by members of the Coronation Street cast that will be raffled off in the New Year.

Dave Hughes, secretary of the food bank, said: “Although we are only a small charity we are continually looking out for more volunteers, even if it is only a couple of hours per year the food bank can make use of that time.”

The food bank is now open five days a week between three different venues at St John’s Church in Atherton, Kingsleigh Methodist Church and Leigh Baptist Church.
