PERFORMERS took to the stage at Bedford High School for the annual Christmas concert.

From rock to pop, soul to rap and even a few traditional Christmas favourites, there was something to suit everyone in the packed audience on December 12.

Pupil Zoe Unsworth opened the show followed by a performance of Snow Patrol’s Run by year 10 GCSE students and a rendition of Justin Bieber’s ballad Mistletoe from singers Chelsea Riley and Jamie Leigh Wright.

Bedford head of Music James Emberley, who directed the performance, said: “The Christmas Concert is a real team effort and we have seen some wonderful performances.

“Some of the young players and performers are quite used to the limelight while some have only been playing their instruments for a few weeks but they have shown the confidence to entertain a live audience.

The event also helped to raise money for one of the school's chosen charities, Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Head teacher Helen Phillips said: “At Bedford we are fortunate to have a lot of gifted and talented young performers and this was their chance to shine.

“The concert allows the students to express themselves through the music that they love. It's also a great way to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

“On behalf of everyone at Bedford High School we would like to wish the entire community a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
