A TAKEAWAY delivery driver who forced a police officer to swerve out of his way while overtaking two cars has been banned from driving for six months.

Prosecutors told Burnley magistrates Tomasz Kupisz, 26, was driving a Nissan Primera along Market Street, in Bacup, when he pulled out.

Driving in the opposite direction, a police officer was forced to brake heavily and swerve to the left into a clear junction.

The court heard Kupisz was pulled over in Union Street and he informed the officer he was delivering takeaway food. Later enquiries established he was not insured to make deliveries.

Kupisz, of Bacup Road, Rawtenstall, denied careless driving and having no insurance. He was fined £165 with £85 costs, alongside the driving disqualification.
