DEMENTIA sufferers and their carers can now enjoy free multi-sensory therapy sessions across the borough.
Through the Dementia Friendly Communities work being led by Wigan Council, Sensoriel became one of 11 organisations to receive funding to deliver their bespoke service in the area.
They are now able to provide multi-sensory therapy sessions for people who have been diagnosed with dementia, in their own homes or in community or day centres, free of charge.
Sensoriel was founded by Amy Cotter said: “Research has shown that multi-sensory equipment stimulates the senses, provides alternatives to medication and isolation, increases functionality and awareness attention, improves appetite, memory, cognition and speech, increases happiness, encourages movement, range of motion and posture, improves relationships and decreases aggression, abuse, anxiety and wandering.”
If you are interested in experiencing multi-sensory and reminiscence therapy, or would like to know more, email Amy at Sensoriel or call on 07899 924 696.
