A TAKEAWAY delivery driver suffered bruises to his face and body after he was robbed in Golborne.

The driver was travelling to an address on May Street when two or three men flagged him down and asked whether he was delivering food.

When he confirmed that he was, one of the offenders dragged him from the car and assaulted him while another offender stole the food at about 11.20pm on Saturday, December 28.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been bailed until February 28.

Det Con Andrew Partington said: "One line of enquiry we are pursuing is that the offenders themselves placed the food order.

"However, we are urging anyone who may have witnessed this incident or saw the offenders hanging around beforehand to get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7321 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
