VOLUNTEERS are needed to help newly planted daffodil bulbs survive the winter.
The Friends of Lilford Park has planted 1,000 bulbs at the park and is in need of a few helping hands to spread tree bark on the flower bed to protect the shoots.
Chair of FoLP David Sykes said: “We need to transport the bark about 30 yards and spread it over the bed to reduce the weed growth and protect the daffodil shoots from the coming winter frosts.
“We need some muscle power to spread the bark but with wheelbarrows, garden forks and rakes the job will only take a couple of hours.
“If you have any spare bulbs left over at home please bring them with you as any addition to our spring flowering will be great.”
Anyone who wishes to help should meet at the park’s gazebo at 10am to sign in on Saturday, January 11.
