A TEENAGER needs the public’s support to be crowned a winner at an upcoming beauty pageant.
Emily Lowe, aged 17, had never competed in pageants until she took part in a charity show for Joining Jack last year where she won the ‘Miss Popularity’ title.
Since then she has obtained a sponsor and entered the Miss Teen Great Britain competition, for which she has been chosen to represent Greater Manchester and Leigh.
The Winstanley College student said: “I have wanted to do something like this for quite a while and never got round to it.
“Winning Miss Popularity and then coming runner-up at the charity pageant last year made me decide to give it a go.
“The other regular competitors could not believe I had never entered a contest before so I applied for this.
“This year, all the money raised will be donated to The Christie so I am going to hold a cocktail night at Bar Quaye on King Street.”
Emily, of Priestfields in Leigh, is studying for A-levels in English literature, religion, philosophy, media studies and Spanish and hopes to study religion at university next year.
