VETERANS from the British Legion have thanked a supermarket for helping them with their poppy appeal.
Harry Gray and Tommy Atherton spend two weeks every year selling poppies in Golborne Asda in the run up to Remembrance Sunday.
The Golborne community helped them raise £8,663 - double the amount raised last year - and they have thanked them by presenting them with a certificate.
Community life collegue at Asda Richard Barber said: “We are a small store so to have raised this much, more than a lot of the big superstores is just unbelievable and it is all thanks to the Golborne public.”
