A MOBILE hairdresser is getting used to her new ‘do’ after shaving her hair for charity.

Marie Hupton and her sister Leanne Stevens shaved their hair on Sunday in support of their mum Betty Waterworth, who is battling breast cancer.

Betty is undergoing chemotherapy and the sisters wanted to support her while raising money for The Christie.

Marie, of Wayfarers Drive in Tyldesley, said: “The event went really well, it was emotional and lots of people were crying while we were having it done. My mum was overwhelmed but it has given her more confidence.

“She never used to take her hat off in public but on Sunday she did. She walked around with no hair for the first time.

“Leanne and I want to thank everyone for their kind words and donations.”

Betty was diagnosed with cancer five years ago and had a mastectomy which meant she went into remission. Last year, she was diagnosed again and told the cancer was more aggressive than before.
