BIRD watching fans are all set to share their passion with the people of Leigh.

Pennington Flash will be transformed into a bird watching haven on Sunday with a number of activities available thanks to Leigh Ornithological Society and WLCT.

The society will be holding guided bird watching walks to the main hides in the area while Greater Manchester Ecology Unit will be helping young people to complete bird and nature quizzes and to recognize bird calls and song.

WLCT will be holding bird orienteering sessions and making bird feeders while the Friends of Lilford Park will be distributing information about their current developments.

Martyn Jones from the society said: “We also hope to have some live birds of prey on display and representation by the RSPB who will be signing new members and selling books and bird food.”

The event coincides with the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch weekend and starts at 11am.
