A SECOND event is being held to find out how Leigh can become ‘dementia friendly’.

The meeting hopes to gather opinions about what help and services are needed to support people living with dementia from people that have experience of it.

The first event, led by Wigan Council, was held on Friday and individuals, businesses, charities, social groups and other organisations attended the informal lunchtime session.

Clr Keith Cunliffe, portfolio holder for adult and social care, said: “We’ve seen that when people get involved in the conversation and ultimately decide which services are funded locally to improve the lives of those living with dementia, the benefit to the whole community is maximised.”

The next meeting is at Leigh Miners on Twist Lane on Wednesday, January 29, from 12pm until 3pm.

The events are free but people are asked to let the team know if they plan on going by calling 01942 404260 or emailing R.Killen@wigan.gov.uk.
