PARK and ride facilities at Hindley railway station are to be upgraded and the number of parking spaces increased.
Councillors have approved a proposal from Transport for Greater Manchester to provide new fencing, improve pedestrian access, enhance lighting and install a new CCTV system.
Clr Guy Harkin, chairman of the TfGM Capital Projects and Policy Sub-Committee, said: “These improvements will encourage greater use of the car parks and increase the number of rail journeys.”
The plans need to be approved by the rail industry but work should begin in the summer.
