A DINGY bowling hut has been given a new lease of life thanks to a group of volunteers.

Members of the Friends of Lilford Park, volunteers from True Colours CIC, an organisation that supports adults with autism and learning disabilities, Compassion in Action CIC and GMP spent Monday and Tuesday transforming the disused hut.

They cleared out and painted the old building in Lilford Park so that it can be used for sporting events.

FoLP chairman David Sykes said: “The bowling hut was in a dilapidated state of decoration and full of old rubbish. The teams of young people have worked hard and laughed a lot and done a great job of restoration.

“All we need to do now is finish of the outside and paint the floor and its move-in time and the hut will remain empty until required and will not contain anything of value when not in use.”
