A CAREERS advisor received recognition at a special ceremony for his contribution in getting the unemployed back into work.
John McCusker has been a member of Wigan Council's learning and employment team for seven years.
His contribution in helping unemployed residents to find work has earned him the most adaptable adviser award at the National Careers Service, Love Your Job Awards.
He said: "I've never been one for individual recognition or awards, but I am humbled by this one. Helping people to find employment and stability in their lives is a rewarding and interesting job to say the least.
"I have met thousands of people through my work and it gives me great pleasure to know that I have helped them in some way."
John's role is to work with customers, individually and in small groups, to help them identify realistic career and employment goals and give impartial advice and practical help on applying for jobs.
