A NURSE who has given 37 years of service to the NHS has retired.

Janet Roddy, of Gordon Street, celebrated her retirement from Leigh Infirmary - where she has worked since 1988 - with a buffet and presents from her colleagues.

"For the most part I've enjoyed my career but there comes a time when you just have to say enough is enough and take a break," said the 54-year-old.

"I've got lots of things that need doing on my house, like getting a new kitchen, but after that who knows?"
