TEAM Anna, a group of volunteers fundraising for a Bacup toddler battling leukaemia, are holding a Mother’s Day market in the town on Sunday.

The event at Pioneer Gym, Rockcliffe Road, will feature a variety of stalls stocked with Mother’s Day gifts, and will take place from noon to 4pm.

All proceeds will go to CLIC Sargent, which provides care for children with cancer including three-year-old Anna Brooks.

In January, the team lost £2,500 in cash donations after Blossoms Private Day Nursery, the nursery Anna attended before becoming too ill, was raided by thieves who ripped the nursery’s safe off the wall.

Last month, more than £3,000 was raised when staff and children from a dozen Valley schools wore pink for a non-uniform day organised by Team Anna.

Anna is currently undergoing treatment at Manchester Children’s Hospital. To make a donation to Anna’s cause, visit www.justgiving.com/ teams/teamannafund.
