Furniture exchange to give back to Leigh community

A LEIGH store is holding a furniture exchange to help furnish the houses of struggling families.
Magnum Furniture is offering a discount of up to £500 on a new purchase, when an unwanted item of furniture is traded in at its Lord Street showroom.
The furniture will then be donated to Compassion in Action, a charity that helps struggling families to set up homes by providing clothing, food and furniture.
Matthew Tryner, one of the directors, said: "We did a similar part exchange three years ago for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. This time we chose Compassion in Action after hearing about the good work they do.
It is our way of giving something back to the community."
Compassion in Action aims to help people and families to regain their independence by helping them to acquire their own tenancies.
Chief executive Pam Gilligan said: "Magnum has been helping us for a few months, but by formalising the partnership and the part exchange, we will be able to help a lot more families."
