COMPUTERS the size of credit cards are being used to help revolutionise learning at a Leigh school.

Bedford High School won 15 British-made Raspberry Pi computers after pupils took part in an 'hour of code' event to develop their own piece of software from scratch.

Bedford High School maths teacher John Wilkinson said: “The Raspberry Pi is a fantastic invention which gives you all the power of a full-sized computer in the palm of your hand.”

The £25 piece of kit is the brainchild of scientists with the Raspberry Pi Foundation and was designed to encourage young people to become more computer-literate.

It was also created to provide people in developing countries with cheap and easy access to programming power.
