CHILDREN were kept busy during the Easter break by helping out in Lilford Park.
Supervised by the GMP Leigh East Team, the Friends of Lilford Park held a task and rewards day for 18 children, mainly from Leigh CE School.
They carried out basic housekeeping tasks in the park during the morning and were rewarded with a free lunch and entertainment, including a climbing wall, archery and problem solving, in the afternoon.
FoLP chairman David Sykes said: “The entrance to the park and around the bowling green looks much tidier. Everyone went home tired and safe at the end of the event.
“Once again a big thank you to everyone including the children for all your efforts.”
The event was a precursor to starting up community cadet scheme with support and funding from the Brighter Borough scheme from Clr Keith Cunliffe.
