A STAND up comedian cut the ribbon at the grand opening of Mosley Common in Bloom on Friday.

Justin Moorhouse helped the volunteer group open the event which was designed to thank businesses, councillors and residents who have supported them.

They have helped the group to raise money to install a new ornate circular cast iron seat and a notice board on the village common.

More than 30 people turned out to see Justin cut the ribbon and to hear heartfelt speeches from Maxine Abberley, the group’s chairman.

She said: “The group aims to put Mosley Common firmly on the map of Wigan rather than it being a forgotten corner at the furthest tip of the borough.”

Guests later tucked in to a cake specially commissioned for the event and took part in a flower themed music quiz.
