MINING historian Alan Davies will present a walk and talk around the Pretoria Pit ruins for the Over Hulton Community Group on Saturday.

The guided lecture stroll, from 10am, starts from the end of Broadway, off Newbrook Road, in Atherton.

The talk will detail the events of the mining disaster, which saw 344 men and boys lose their lives in December 1910.

It will also include a demonstration of water dowsing using divining rods.

Places, costing £2, must be booked with John Bullen by emailing j.bullen1@ntlworld.com, or call 01942 874719.
