ELTON JOHN will be supported by an electronic pop musician when he performs at Leigh Sports Village.

Bright Light Bright Light, the stage name of Welshman Rod Thomas, has confirmed that he will light up the stage and warm up the crowd for the June 21 concert.

The up-and-coming electro-pop star caught the attention of Elton John with his debut album Make Me Believe In Hope.

He got in touch with the rising star and ended up adding his vocals to his latest single I Wish We Were Leaving.

Although it wasn't written as a duet, I love that Elton’s voice taking lead in the second verse is a reminder that every relationship has two sides and two voices,” said Rod.

The single features on the Welsh-born musician’s second album Life Is Easy, which will be released on July 7.

“The title is purposefully a point of discussion. Of course life can be very difficult, but it can also be amazing, depending what approach you take,” he said.

“I left London for New York and fell back in love with life, making music, touring and writing. The album for me is an overview of a year and a half of meeting people who changed my life making decisions that opened and closed many doors.

“A life that had seemed pretty muted suddenly felt technicolour again.”
