AN NHS service has been recognised for setting the standard in patient care at the inaugural National Continence Care Awards.
The Wigan Continence Care service, provided jointly by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust (Bridgewater) in partnership with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust (WWL), received the Continence Care Team award.
WWL Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Jennifer Davies was also highly commended in the Clinical Leadership category during the event at the House of Commons.
She said: “I believe one of the reasons we won is that, here in Wigan, hospital and community continence services work together seamlessly, with district nurses and GPs and continence nurses in the community collaborating with physiotherapists and specialist continence doctors for both bladder and bowel at Leigh Infirmary.”
