STUDENTS starting a full-time course in September will benefit from discounted travel.
Travel to and from Wigan and Leigh College and at evening and weekends will be available at a cheaper rate to 16-year-old school leavers from September.
They will receive a discount worth around £200, allowing them to obtain an annual bus pass for just £50 but to keep their pass their college attendance must be at least 90 per cent.
Principal Cath Hurst said: “We introduced the travel scheme last year to school leavers and it proved to be very successful.
“The scheme will assist students to have direct access to public transport at a much lower cost, easing the financial strain for many families.
“Passes are limited to a first come, first served basis and will be made available to students once they have enrolled.”
