A MAN who has been seen exposing himself and behaving indecently in Leigh is being sought by police.

A 38-year-old woman was in her garden early on the afternoon of Monday, May 5 when she saw a man nearby on Leigh Road. He turned round and she saw him performing a sex act. He then walked away.

The woman realised that she had seen the same man a few days earlier at about 3.30pm on Thursday, May 1 when she was standing at a bus stop and was approached by the offender who put his hands down his trousers and touched himself.

He walked a short distance away only to return a few moments later and stood at the side of the woman and continued to touch himself. And got onto the same bus as the woman but remained on board when she alighted a mile up the road.

The man police are seeking is white, in his mid to late teens, about 5ft 8in tall, slim, with short, dirty blonde or light brown hair with no facial hair. He wore a grey hooded sweat top with a long black body warmer which came down to mid-thigh over the top and jogging bottoms which had a yellow brown stain down the legs.

Police Constable Barrie Willans from Wigan division, said: “At best this woman has been left embarrassed and at worst these offences are causing her to feel alarmed and distressed.

“People should be able to walk about in public spaces without fear of such lewd incidents and we are working hard to identify the person responsible.

“We believe the same man is responsible for both the incidents and I would urge anyone with information to call us.

“Do not approach or engage with him but leave the area and call the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8964 or independent charity Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
