A FOOTBALL fan has followed in the footsteps of his heroes.
Liam Johnson won the opportunity to run out at Anfield as part of a competition organised by Vauxhall, the Liverpool team partner.
The 28-year-old, from Amber Gardens in Hindley, met with other Liverpool fans at the stadium and was given a behind the scenes tour before heading out onto the pitch.
He said; βIt has been the most unforgettable day of my life. To have walked out that tunnel and faced the Kop wearing Liverpool colours was just indescribable.β
The competition winners played a game on the turf and as a surprise on the day were managed by Reds legends Robbie Fowler and Jason McAteer.
The players, who were from across the UK, had taken part in a national competition run by Vauxhall on their Liverpool Facebook page www.facebook.com/vauxhallliverpoolfc.
