A LEIGH man has been charged in connection with an alleged hit-and-run.

Martyn Jones, also known as Martyn O’Neil, aged 39, of Cameron Street, Leigh, was arrested following an incident in Wigan Road, Deane, on Friday where a pedestrian suffered a head injury after being hit by a Vauxhall Astra at about 11.40am.

The 37-year-old pedestrian remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Jones has appeared in Bolton Magistrates Court charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He was remanded into custody and will appear at Bolton Crown Court on August 8.
