A SOCIAL media apprentice is encouraging other teenagers to sign up for the programme.

Rosie Lummis, aged 16, was one of the first apprentices at Bolton property company Miller Metcalfe after joining The Juice Academy - the UK’s first ever industry-led social media apprenticeship programme.

The Tyldesley teenager is now encouraging other teens in the area to put themselves forward for academy after standing out at its fifth rigorous bootcamp selection day.

The programme has created 57 jobs since its launch in June 2013 and was created to increase youth employment and fill an industry-wide skills gap by training young professionals in the practical application of social media.

Rosie said: “Social media is already a huge part of my daily life, so I feel privileged to be able to use these skills to kick-start my career.

“I’m learning something new every day while at Miller Metcalfe and feel like I’m making a positive difference to the company.”

  • The Academy is currently recruiting its sixth cohort of apprentices.
