ST LUKE’S Church in Lowton will be commemorating the First World War this weekend with a series of special events.

Members of Wigan and Leigh History Society will be on hand tomorrow, Saturday, providing help and advice to anyone wanting to research relatives who may have fought in the First World War.

The Great War The church yard will be home to an exhibition showing the lives of people during 1914 and 1918, focusing on those soldiers and civilians who are commemorated on the village’s war memorial.

Paintings from Croft Art Group and artwork created by youngsters at St Luke’s Primary School will be on display together with records and memorabilia.
