CHILDREN should keep their eyes peeled for woolly sheep for a chance to win a Nintendo DS.

The charity Pensioners Link is holding the first annual Where’s My Sheep? competition where, from tomorrow, Friday, knitted sheep will be hiding in shops up and down Bradshawgate, waiting to be discovered.

Each completed entry form, which are available from participating shops or from pensionerslink.org.uk, will win a spot prize and all competitors will be entered into a grand prize draw on December 10 to win a Nintendo DS.

Vicky Tyrrell, centre manager for the charity, said: “We hope that lots of families will enjoy taking part in our competition and have fun searching shops for the cute sheep our pensioners have knitted.”

The grand draw will take place at Pensioners Link’s Christmas concert in the Derby Rooms at Leigh Library. More information can be found on their website or by calling 01942 261753.

Pensioners Link offers advice, companionship and practical help throughout the Leigh and Wigan area, ensuring older people remain involved and lead independent, active lives into older age.

Patron Andy Burnham said: “One of the greatest challenges that our borough faces, like the rest of the country, is how best to support an ageing population and help people combat loneliness and isolation.

"It is essential that we build up local voluntary support networks if we are to rise to this challenge.”

The branch’s sheep mascot will also be appearing at the Leigh Christmas lights switch-on tomorrow, Thursday.
