A MIDWIFE has retired after 11 years with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust.
Janice Tollett started her career in midwifery in September 1993, having studied as a mature student since 1989.
She was studying as nurse when she delivered her first baby and realised the value of being present at such a moment.
A spokesman for the trust said: “She has been an asset to the team, bringing a great sense of humour and a caring attitude into the department.
“She was liked by all and will be sorely missed. Janice was a particularly positive influence on student midwives. She loved to nurture them and watch them grow.”
Janice plans to continue knitting hats for babies on the delivery suite.
