A RAIDER who struck at his friend’s brother’s flat while his mate was “house-sitting” has walked free from court.
Nathan Clement, 20, who got in through an open door and took a £300 PlayStation console, had sent a Facebook message to the victim that day, asking for his flat number and saying he was trying to get hold of the victim’s brother.
The defendant, of Nelson Street, Bacup, had admitted burglary and was given a community order, with 150 hours’ unpaid work and 12 months’ supervision.
Amanda Johnson, prosecuting, said victim Christopher Devlin lived at King Street, Bacup, and had left the keys to the flat with his brother on November 15 last year. The court heard his brother left the front door insecure, making it possible for the defendant to strike.
Clement was identified by his clothes on CCTV, the court was told.
