A MEN-only fitness programme has been helping men shed their excess weight as part of National Obesity Week.
All last week, members from Wigan Council’s Trim Down Shape Up were stationed in Leigh Spinning Gate shopping centre encouraging passers-by to take part in health and activity challenges.
Trim Down Shape Up asked Leigh shoppers to jump on their Nintendo Wii and challenged them to compete on various fitness games.
Health trainers also attended the stand on Saturday to offer free health checks to anyone aged between 40 and 74. and were joined by and Leigh Centurions players and their trophies.
Those who sign up will benefit from 12 weeks of free activity sessions, such as circuit training and boxing, with other men who are also looking to shift excess weight and improve their fitness levels.
A new session also started yesterday and will run every Wednesday from 2pm until 3.30pm at Dorset Road Community Centre.
