A MOUNTAIN bike has been stolen from a storage cupboard at a railway station.

The owner of the bike placed the customised bike in a store cupboard at Wigan Wallgate station which was left unlocked while the victim walked to the booking office at around 2.30pm on January 15.

Three men then entered the station, one of which took the bike before passing it to another who rode off down King Street.

All three then boarded a bus which they are believed to have dismounted in Golborne.

British Transport Police are now looking for two men who they believe could hold vital information about the theft.

Investigating officer PC Daniel Armstrong said: “The owner of the bike placed it in a store cupboard before walking into the booking office. The cupboard was left unlocked.

“A man entered the station and made straight for the store cupboard and removed the bike.

“He was with two other men and the stolen bike was given to one of the other two who rode off on it down King Street.

“The man who stole the bike then made his way to a bus stop in front of Wigan NW Railway Station with the third man. They boarded the 600 bus at 2.36pm and got off at Golborne, possibly near ASDA.”

Officers urge anyone who recognises the pictured men to come forward to help police with their enquiries.
