A SWEET-TOOTHED youngster has raised over £800 for charity by baking cakes with her great grandmother.

Darcie-Ray Campbell, four, from Hagfold in Atherton, has been baking up to 150 cakes a day in aid of Red Nose Day.

The Meadow Bank pupil has been selling the cakes, which include her favourites, scones, cornflake cakes, fruit cake and shortbread, for 50p.

Mum Kealy Hurst, 23 said: "She saw an advert come on the tele where the children were drinking water out of dirty puddles and she get really upset and said she didn't want them drinking out of any more puddles and wanted to buy them taps, because she didn't want them getting poorly anymore.

"She goes to her great grandma's every Tuesday to bake cakes and decided she wanted to sell the cakes so we went out round the estate and we raised £21 that day.

"Then I got home and set up a just giving page which is now up to £817 in just a week."

Adorable Darcie-Rae, who bakes with her great-grandmother Glennis Wagstaff, 67, has now sold over 500 cakes and is receiving orders daily

Mum of two Kealy, who also has 11 month old son Freddie said: "She wanted to raise £100 at first and to her she thought that sounded like a million pound but me and her dad were actually apprehensive because a £100 is a lot of money, but we had smashed that in the first hour and raised £285 just that night and when we woke up in the morning the page was near to £400.

"It's been crazy, but we are all so proud of her, we are totally bowled over by her generosity at such a young age.

"She is absolutely loving it.

"She's been taking the cakes in to school to sell and stood at the front of the assembly the other day to tell them all about her cakes and they are going to have a day for her to come in and bake."

Darcie-Rae will be selling her cakes until March 13. To donate go to: http://my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/Darcie-Rae#
