DANCERS from Atherton and Tyldesley raised more than £3,000 for Comic Relief.

Rainbow, Brownie and Girl Guide groups from Atherton and Tyldesley came together for a non-stop danceathon.

The girls danced to eight different styles of music for three hours non-stop at Garret Hall Primary School and raised £2,700.

The day was organised by Briony Chesterfield, aged 20, and Holly Chesterfield, aged 17, from Tyldesley, who are leaders at Garret Hall Brownies and also run dance group 'Dance4Fun'.

Briony from Tyldesley said: "We were both really pleased with how the day went, everyone had a great time.

"The girls enthusiasm throughout the Danceathon was amazing."

Meanwhile in In Step, Victoria Mill in Atherton thirteen ladies got together for a red nose inspired Zumbathon.

For two hours the zumba dancers took to the floor and raised more than £700 for comic relief.

Fitness instructor Sam Roberts, aged 38, who fronted the class said: "Everyone managed to continue for the full two hours, non-stop - they didn't even stop for toilet breaks.

"They did really well and they are actually looking forward to the next event which is going to be something for Children in Need."
