Police are appealing for help after a 67-year-old man was reported missing from Astley.

George Keith Shortman was reported missing at 7.20pm on Monday 23 March after he was last seen at his home on Thornton Road at 9.30am that morning.

He is described as being white, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, has short dark coloured hair and wears hearing aids.

It is believed he was last wearing a black coloured parka jacket, blue striped jumper, blue jeans and black shoes. He also wore a black bob hat, scarf, gloves and held a carrier bag.

He was last seen at 10.30am and 2pm the day he went missing at Leigh bus station and is known as either George or Keith.

Police are concerned as George has not taken his medication for diabetes and high blood pressure for three days.

George is known to travel to Leigh and regularly uses the bus and train networks to travel to Manchester city centre.
