A CANNABIS farm was found at a rented house in Leigh, a court has heard.
Police went to the house on January 15 this year following concerns by the letting agency, said Kenneth Grant, prosecuting.
After forcing entry they found 30 cannabis plants in an upstairs bedroom.
They returned the next day and after hearing loud banging they entered and found Scott Walker. When arrested he made admissions about his involvement in the cannabis farm.
28-year-old Walker, of Shirley Avenue, Pendlebury, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis and abstracting electricity and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years and ordered to pay £500 costs.
Anthony O’Donohoe, defending, said Walker had made significant admissions to police officers on his arrest and when interviewed admitted the offence in full.
Sentencing him the judge Recorder Howard Bentham, QC, said he had intended sending him straight to jail, but had decided to suspend the sentence as "I believe you’re a decent lad so I am giving you a chance”.
