THREE men have appeared in court accused of participating in an armed robbery in Atherton which saw £4,560 stolen from a bank security worker.
Dean Brown, aged 24, of no fixed abode, Leyton Dewitt, aged 22, of no fixed abode and William Garry, aged 34, of Chaucer Grove, Atherton, have been charged with robbery, burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.
They allegedly stole the cash from a security worker outside Natwest bank in Market Street at about 3.20pm on Tuesday, June 9.
The trio also faces charges relating to a burglary in Cross Street, Atherton on the same day, where a safe worth £250 was stolen.
All three defendants are accused of aggravated vehicle taking in relation to a Mazda 6, while Brown is also charged with handling stolen goods in relation to that car.
The trio have been remanded in custody after entering no pleas at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on June 11.
They will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on June 24.
