A HUSBAND and wife took part in the Manchester Midnight Walk in memory of their mothers.
John and Karen Sharples from Astley were joined by family and friends in the 10k stroll through the city centre organised by St Ann's Hospice.
It was their way of thanking the charity for caring for John's mum Mary, who died on her 82nd birthday in February, and Karen's mum Peggy Stout who died in 1997.
John, said: "My mum was at St Ann's for six weeks and the staff there were unbelievable. Karen's mum was also treated there and this is our way of giving something back to the hospice."
Daughters Danielle and Natalie and their boyfriends Chris Coupe and Rob Hudson, along with stepdaughters Katie Soulsby and Vicki Twigg, her husband Michael and their daughter Amy joined 2,000 walkers. The walk is expected to raise around £200,000.
