A man was grabbed and dragged along by a car in Hindley.

Two men in their 40s were on Banner Street when a man in an old style dark Land Rover approached them at 12.40am on Sunday, June 21.

The man in the car grabbed one of them and held onto his arm. He drove off before he eventually let him go at the junction of George Street and Chapel Green Road.

His friend tried to intervened, trying to free him but was assaulted by the driver.

Det con Lynsey Watson said: “This was a targeted attack that left two men with significant injuries requiring hospital treatment.

"Thankfully, they are recovering well but it could have been a lot worse.

“I would ask anyone who may have been in the area at the time and either witnessed the assault or saw the car driving off, to contact police as soon as possible.”
